What is Pilates?

Pilates is a very safe, non-impact way of exercising that is recommended by osteopaths, physiotherapists and General Practitioners.

Pilates exercises create better flexibility of the spine, mobilise stiff joints and train your brain to use your body efficiently.

Pilates helps you learn good movement patterns and helps to prevent pain caused by poor posture and muscle imbalance. This is achieved by correcting muscle imbalances that arise over time, by stretching and relaxing tight muscles, and by strengthening weak muscles. Pilates is unlike most other forms of exercise that further strengthen muscles that are already tight, which can lead to greater muscle imbalance.

Who is Pilates for?

Pilates is beneficial to ANYONE interested in looking after their body. Regardless of age, levels of fitness, aches and pains, Pilates has something to offer everyone. I have experience of teaching a wide range of clients from OAPs to school children and from sedentary office workers to elite athletes. I use my extensive anatomical knowledge and years of experience to adapt exercises to suit client's individual needs. Pilates strengthens the body, releases tension, improves flexibility and restores the body to balance.

It is particularly beneficial for those who have experienced back pain as the exercises strengthen the muscles that support the spine and reinforce good alignment.

Why Body Control Pilates®?

Body Control Pilates® has adapted the original classical exercises of Joseph Pilates into a staged programme that can be enjoyed in safety and effectively by a wide range of individuals. Body Control Pilates tailors the exercise to the individual, teaches good movement skills step-by-step to give you the strength and flexibility required to perform the advanced traditional exercises. No other Pilates system uses such a safe and progressive approach.

"In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see the difference, in 30 you'll be on your way to having a whole new body."
